Is the cover of an ebook important when it comes to sales?

I've read where authors say it is important. From my own limited experience, I don't know.

At present I have 3 ebooks published. Two of which have covers I have somebody to make for me. I think they're good covers compared to the generic one from Amazon I'm using for the other book. BTW, I'm going to get another cover done for Coming Home.

However of my three books, Coming Home is the one I'm selling the most of. By a big margin too. My next book, Best Laid Plans, will feature a paid cover also. A raunchy cover for a raunchy book. It will be interesting to see if BLP breaks the losing streak I have with paid covers.

Two new ebooks for sale

First up is 'Always Born a Girl'.

Synopsis- Rick Townsend is a bored teenager in Southern California. One day he buys a electronic game. Thanks to the game, Rick's boredom is soon a thing of the past. Think Ground Hog Day and Bill Murray.

It is available for sale at Amazon for $2.99.

My next title is 'Guess Who's Coming to Dinner'.

Synopsis- Two government agents are sent to New Guinea to search for a missing millionaire.

This ebook of mine is available for purchase at the bargain price of $1.59

Of course both books are transgender fiction.

I will be publishing two or maybe three more ebooks by Mother's Day.

What not to look for

My stories deal with sexuality and gender issues. Sometimes I have characters being intimate with one another but that is only a very small element in any story I write.

Something you won't see in anything I write is underage characters engaging in sexual relations or they being sexually or physically abused in any way. I want to make that clear because my next story features a character under the age of 18.

Introduction

I just published my first story at Amazon. It's titled Coming Home.

I was born in Suffolk County New York in 1961 and was the fourth of five children.

As I was clumsy when growing up and not athletically gifted at all, possibly due to childhood epilepsy, I became a prolific book reader. I played the trumpet and later on, the baritone horn.

In 1976, after my father sold his business, I moved to Florida. Florida has been my official residence ever since.

I has been fortunate in that he has been able to travel quite a bit. I have stepped foot in fifty United States and have been to over a dozen countries.

Since 1989 I have been married to Net Net, who was born in the Philippines. I have spent a considerable amount of time in that country, has eaten bulad one time, and lived. Most of my time in the Philippines was spent in and around the city of Tacloban which was devastated by Typhoon Yolanda in November 2013.

Net Net and I have had two children. Currently we have a cat named Misay. Misay being the waray word for cat.

An explanation of Net Net- "That's my wife's nickname, Net Net. Net Net was born in Alangalang, is a waray waray, has a friend named Wen Wen, a niece called Jen Jen, and once had a cat named Ten Ten."

Interests include- Politics, Chess, Sports- Golf, Ice Hockey, and Pro football mostly- reading, and watching movies. I watch television, but mostly older fare plus the game show Jeopardy! I've twice tried out for Jeopardy.

The only reality show I watch  is the news. If Survivor was realistic, some of the contestants would end up being eaten. As for American Idol, my wife Net Net sings better than almost any contestant the show has featured.

Things that have shaped my adult life include seeing my mother die of lung cancer at age 53. She was a lifetime cigarette smoker and I hate all tobacco. I have fought a 20-year battle against malignant melanoma. Besides melanoma, I have had two separate close brushes with death. The first due to a pulmonary embolism and the second after I contracted pneumonia shortly after having open heart surgery.

The most upsetting event in my life was the death of my and Net Net's son Daniel only 14.5 hours after he was born.

Well that's my biography. In a few days I'll do a post about my writing.
